A Rustic Barn Wedding

Lia & Paul

Autumn 2018

Northamptonshire

Hello all and thank you for reading my blog. This is a short look at a barn wedding I have planned and coordinated at the end of 2018 in a romantic wedding venue in the Northamptonshire for a lovely couple Lia & Paul.

I have met my Bride to be Lia and her lovely bridesmaid 3 months before the wedding date for a coffee.  And from the first moment, I knew that they mean business and know exactly what they are looking for. It was a rustic elegance barn wedding with a lovely land, and all the practical aspects to suit the wedding party with the children within it. We have had a successful first meeting after Lia found me online and agreed to work together quite quickly. We felt we were on the same page. Our wedding planning timescale was on a short side but with a list of reliable suppliers who could deliver the look and the feel of the wedding day required, we were well on our way.

The Venue

The Barns at Hunsbury Hill, dating back to 1776, is a complex of what used to be working barns. With views over the Northampton town, valleys and a lovely courtyard. The Barns have been refurbished but have kept all the charm, original features, and exposed beams. This is where rustic chic meets the demands of any event, perfect for that modern romance. The number of barns meant that we could have a lovely bar outside, the main barn for the wedding ceremony and the reception. And a spare barn for all the children to play in and have a sleepover party of their own.

The Wedding Theme

The style and the rustic look of the barns have set up a feel to the wedding already. Lia and Paul have decided to enhance the look and create a truly warm, luxury and timeless backdrop to their wedding day.

Whites and greens were the main colours of the glorious floral displays to create a fresh spring feel to the day. With high glass vases overflowing with classy white and green flowers as the table’s centrepieces, very popular hanging floral hoops dropping from the barn’s beams, and a fully dressed balcony to the mezzanine. There were flowers everywhere you looked, the room appeared fresh and truly ready for the big day. The lighting of the room played a big role as well. The fairy lights have stood out against the classic dark stone walls. They hung from beam to beam and on the dark brown wood barn door as well to create the backdrop to the top table.

The final touches were then created by the cherry blossom tree with little glass hearts on, ready to be signed by the guests. A vintage basket then for the cards and a wooden frame for the hearts to go in.

The tables were then finished with golden leaf show plates, crisp white napkins, and glass tea light holders in various heights.

Food and Drink

Family and friends sharing were the main ideas behind the platters that were served directly to the tables where everyone could find a selection of meats, salads, and side dishes. The choice of food would easily please anyone.  All this lovely food washed down by our all-time favourite Prosecco, white and rose wines.

Special Moment

A truly special moment of the wedding was the Bride with her dad before they walked down the aisle. The full dress was rearranged to look perfect at the bottom of the staircase, and then again on the top of the staircase. Deep breaths before Lia walked down the aisle to her groom and their little boy. This is what makes me very proud to be part of such a special occasion and I am blessed that the couples put their trust in me.

Testimonial:

“I cannot Thank Martina enough for all her help In planning mine & Paul’s wedding. We Only gave ourselves three months to plan therefore poor Martina only had three months also. I cannot believe how amazingly Fast this wonderful lady got it all completed. I was worried about having a wedding planner, I’ve heard stories where they basically take over the wedding. Not Martina, Martina was fantastic. Listened to all my ideas, she made sure it was all about me and Paul throughout all our meetings & made it very clear she was here to help with anything I required. I honestly could not recommend highly enough!!!!!! Thank you lovely!! You are truly amazing at what you do. Xx”   Mr & Mrs Johnson
